At Mt. Ivy, we believe and teach:
That the Bible, Old and New Testaments, was written by human authors inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Bible is God's message to man, without errors and fully dependable in all its teachings.
That Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God, fully equal with God the Father. He is eternal, meaning that He always existed in heaven with God and now lives with Him in heaven forever. Jesus was sent to earth in a human body according to God's plan (John 1:1-14). He was conceived through the power of the Holy Spirit and born to a woman who was a virgin (Matthew 2:18-25), so that His birth was a miracle.
That this Jesus is the Messiah or Christ, the one sent by God to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins, the only way into God's presence (John 14:1-6). We believe that Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment for sin, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day to live forever, and that He appeared alive to hundreds of people who could testify that He was alive again (1 Corinthians 15:1-8). Forty days later, Jesus was taken up into heaven, where He now lives and rules forever (Acts 1:3-9; Acts 2:32-36).
That, in order to receive the benefits of God's grace, to be saved from the eternal punishment that we deserve and from the power of sin over our lives, every person must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, turn from their sins to start living for Him, confess their faith that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of God, and be immersed in water in Jesus' name to have their sins forgiven (to be cleansed from their sins by Jesus' blood) and to receive God's Holy Spirit as a gift (Acts 2:37-41; Acts 22:16; Ephesians 5:25-27; Peter 3:21).
That every Christian must keep living for Jesus and not turn away from Him, in order to have eternal life (Revelation 2:10).
That Jesus will come again to raise the dead and to receive those who have followed Him faithfully, so that we can be with Him in heaven forever (John 14:2-3).
